When people make comments about our weight or body shape, it’s often difficult not to attach our feelings to it. It’s hard not to associate good and bad feelings with weight loss and weight gain. It’s hard to remember that we shouldn’t need to shape our bodies to impress anyone. It’s hard not to equate our bodies with our sense of self-worth.
In this video, Karinda discusses how we can approach conversations about our bodies positively - acknowledging that some comments may make us feel uncomfortable or angry, but that responding with a positive attitude can both help reaffirm our own sense of self-worth, as well as spread a body positive message to the other person involved in the conversation.
Integrating body positive practices into our daily lives is what slowly culminates into greater self-confidence and eventually, social change, and following in Karinda’s footsteps is a sure step towards success.
