Filling Conversations: Unwrapping Your Body Image Story (Collab Workshop with be/longing HK)

“Filling Conversations” is a storytelling workshop co-created by Body Banter and our partner organization be/longing. It integrates storytelling and arts-and-crafts activities to encourage workshop participants to share stories and personal experiences surrounding body image.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to:

  • Develop a deeper self-awareness of their body image perceptions and their impact on overall well-being.

  • Explore artistic expression as a means of communicating their thoughts and emotions surrounding body image, through engaging in hands-on arts and crafts activities.

  • Cultivate empathy and connection with others through active listening and sharing of personal stories

*Note: this workshop is adapted from “Unwrapped”, an experiential workshop co-created by be/longing, Peace Generation and Jane Ngai, which was first delivered during be/longing’s 2023 event, “Seated with Strangers”. Building on the concept of the Story Circle, coined by John O’Neal, a civil rights activist, playwright, and actor, this workshop carves out a safe space for participants to share personal stories.
