just saying - tanya wan
‘you’ve gotten so fat recently,’
(graceful twirls and honey-sweet grins,
dripping sweat, cool to the touch,
a mute volcano, lava simmering within;
envy tinged with hatred at those
hourglasses in skin-tight leotards,
porcelain angels, white and gold;
haunted by mirrors, hushed whispers,
those fistfuls of fat and skin, raw like
butchered meat, violent shivers;
untouched plates in the sink,
hands shaking, stomach clenching,
teetering on the precipitous brink;
white sparks flickering, just out of sight,
black waves of nausea sweeping over,
brilliant stars giving in to the night)
she remarked,
offhandedly.
