“Having an experience like the diet culture presentation from Natalie and Stephanie felt crucial for our generation and development as young teens. Learning about weight stigma and negative connotations surrounding body image helped us realise that we should not be pressured by the unrealistic beauty standards portrayed all over social media and across the world, as this is a much bigger issue that goes beyond just us as individuals. We learned about the importance of valuing our mental and emotional wellbeing, as well as the importance of being open about topics such as body image. If there is anything we’ve learned, it's that you should not be afraid to speak your mind or share your perspective.”

“As someone who has struggled with diet culture and body-shaming, Body Banter's talk was both eye-opening and relatable. It's alarming how often society tells us who we should be or what we should look like—and how often we listen and end up hurting ourselves for those toxic expectations. Honest and open discourse on these social issues is the first step to de-stigmatizing it, thereby helping more people stand up and tell their stories. Inspired by Steph and Natalie's presentation, my friend Chloe and I decided to join Body Banter and work towards changing the status quo so that anyone and everyone feels comfortable in their own skin.”

“Intuitive eating was one of the main tools that set me free from my eating disorder and so I was super thrilled to see the work that Body Banter is doing within society! I love that they provide a platform for self-learning and open conversation about this issue that has plagued me and millions of other women (and men). Diet culture has infiltrated into all of our lives and it HAS TO GO.”
— Sandra Shanly, City University
“The diet culture talk helped my friend Tanya and I to start a much-needed conversation within our school community. The talk was both informative and interactive and provided me with more insight into the toxicity of diet culture. Natalie and Steph taught us about the power of words and messages along with examples of how they could be misused to harm others. Overall, I enjoyed the talk, and I believe that the conversations it will spark will prove to be fruitful and beneficial to the student body.”

“I would like to thank Body Banter for creating an informative and engaging workshop for our middle school students. They took a serious topic and made it relatable and accessible for our students. I am confident in saying that they helped remove the unhelpful taboo around eating disorders and that our students (and indeed staff) are more equipped to support one another. Stephanie and Natalie were both charismatic presenters and I'm very grateful that they took the time to share their experiences with us!”
